When I think of Fatherhood, I think of both my Heavenly Father and my Dad. To all people of faith, we know that the first principle of leadership is love. Out of love God gave us his Son and Spirit. He also has given us all talents and gifts. Likewise, good fathers look for and discover the God given talents of their children and they encourage and empower them to develop those gifts.
In the market place, a good leaders first challenge is to find talented people and encourage and empower them to be their best. When leaders truly love and care for their employees they seek out the best training, coaching and support for their team members. Empowering people who take care of clients and customers creates a win-win for everyone involved.
In America today there has been a lack of leadership of love in almost every area of our society. However, there are still good men out there leading their families, companies, religious organizations, charitable and even government entities. Sometimes with notoriety and often times with none.
Look at all of the successful women who themselves have said their fathers played an integral role in their becoming who they are: Oprah Winfrey, Sara Blakely, Mo Anderson and one day Kristen Thompson.
To all of the fathers out there, my wish for you is to have a fabulous Father’s Day and I hope everyone you lead appreciates the sacrifice you have given to be an effective leader and father.
God bless you all,
